Nuff is an eight-year-old boy who is in second grade. Like most boys his age his favorite class period is recess. He daydreams during morning class periods about recess and in his afternoon periods he cannot wait for school to finish. Then after school he usually stops at the park on his way home to play some more.

However, on this day a little new kid arrives for his first day at Nuff’s school. Not knowing anyone the little new kid asks Nuff if he can join him and his buddies at recess. Nuff bullies the little new kid and tells him that he can’t play with them. With nobody to play with the little new kid goes off and sits on his own.

The Bully Gets Bullied

As soon as the school day ends and the bell rings Nuff is out the door and off to the park. Once at the park Nuff asks a group of kids if he can join their soccer game, but the big bully of the group using the same words Nuff used earlier in the day tells him to “Get lost you little loser!”

With nobody to play with at the park, Nuff sits all depressed on a slide. Out of nowhere someone asks him to play. Realizing it was the little new kid from school, Nuff asks him why he would want to play and be friends with someone that was being a bully to him. After a brief discussion Nuff apologizes to the little new kid, they become friends, and go off to play in the park.

Bullying Isn’t Nice

Later that evening while getting ready for bed Nuff’s mom asks him about his day. Thinking back about how he bullied and was bullied earlier in the day, Nuff turns to his mom and said… “Bullying isn’t nice and making friends is much better!”

Reviews

“We love ‘Nuff Said’ books and Bullying Isn’t Nice: Making Friends is Better is just as awesome. Favorite part…when Nuff has his realization moment with Andrew. Ding! The various scenes throughout make you feel as if you’re witnessing a kid’s actual day, dialogue, experience. Another great lesson with Nuff & (new) friends. Five stars.” — BookReviews88

“This was a great story about bullying! I enjoyed how the reader showed both sides of bullying. Nuff was a bully and he also was bullied. In the scenario he learned that being bullied didn’t feel nice. Making friends is better!” — Dramagirl

“Bullying Isn’t Nice is a story that aims to teach children the consequences of bullying. In the story a boy, Nuff, was rude to a new kid who wanted to join his game. He didn’t realize that he hurt the kid’s feelings when he was rude until later on he experience the same treatment from someone else. He felt sad and ashamed when he realized that he was also a bully.” — Emma
