Nuff is an eight-year-old boy who is in second grade. Like most kids his age he doesn’t always listen to what others have to say, especially when it comes to the word ‘NO’ and that is when his hearing tends to become selective. To Nuff, ‘NO’ is just an optional word that someone really didn’t mean to use in their conversation. Never does he begin to consider that no means no.
Of course, Nuff doesn’t usually listen to anyone including his friends and family. He usually just does what he wants most of the time. This makes his old neighbor, Mr. Curmudgeon huff and puff a little along with pretty much everyone else!
Read along as Nuff annoys his friends and family by not listening until a single close call makes him realize that one cannot always do what they want and when they want; and that when someone says ‘N’ and ‘O’ those powerful letters actually translate to “NO means NO!”
Reviews
“We love nuff! In this story, he keeps insisting on helping others who don’t want his help. After many tries and errors, he finally learns to listen when someone says “NO.”” — Joy
“A little boy named Nuff learns some valuable lessons as he goes about his days. He struggles to listen to his mom, his brother, friend and neighbor when they tell him No! It finally sinks in when his neighbor explains, not to nicely N O means no. No help needed, no assistance wanted, no actions taken. Finally Nuff gets it before he gets hurt. Good read with young ones to understand why people may say no.” — Naturalist
“Author Christine Field has penned an excellent book that teaches young ones about listening when the word “No” is said to them and learning the consequences when they do not heed the message. No Means No: The Power of N and O has many good examples of what happens to Nuff Faluff when he pays no attention when others tell him “No.” When he does not heed, something always goes wrong. Read No Means No: The Power of N And O to find out how Nuff learns that not listening can be harmful.” — Emma
