I Saw The Sign And It Opened Up My Eyes, I Saw The Sign

August 23, 2022 by Nuff Faluff

If your child is being bullied, they may be afraid or embarrassed to talk about their bullying experiences with you. Spotting the signs of bullying will help you to start conversations with your children. It will also help them deal with this serious issue. Parents who saw the sign, will be glad they opened their eyes.

Open Your Eyes And See The Signs

Bullied Girl With Head In Hands

Shame and embarrassment caused by bullying may lead children to isolate themselves. A telltale sign of bullying is when a child always plays alone. Or when they go out of their way to avoid other kids.

Bullying also leads to low self-esteem because individuals believe the things bullies say about them. Bullying also makes one feel helpless and weak.  This causes further avoidance of others and isolation. Look for signs that your child is avoiding others and feels upset and helpless.

If your child starts missing too much school because they say they feel sick or not well, this too may be a sign that they are being bullied. In their minds, if they are sick and stay at home, they won’t have to face the bully. In reality, they are just making things worse in the long run and avoiding the problem. Staying at home may save them one day of aggravation and bullying and it will only resume when they return.

More Signs Of Being Bullied

More signs of being bullied are when your child’s grades start to drop for no apparent reason. Also, when they start getting in trouble in school when they never did before. Maybe they are being picked on for being too smart and ruining the test curve. Maybe they are getting bullied for good behavior and being the teacher’s pet. A sudden change in grades and incidences of misbehavior may be signs of being bullied and cause for parental concern.

I Saw The Sign, Did You?

To sum it up and open your eyes, there are definite signs that can indicate your child is being bullied. Pay close attention to any sudden changes in behavior and grades. These are often the first signs a child is being bullied. If you open your eyes and see these signs soon enough, you can address the problems quickly and prevent any lasting scars from being bullied.
